Glenda's Traditional Braces Makeover

Glenda’s case is an example of using orthodontics as part of a more complex treatment plan. Glenda had gorgeous teeth already, we just needed to put them in the right place. First, I aligned the gum levels with traditional braces. After the teeth were in the correct position, we whitened her teeth with KoR Deep Bleaching and I placed three composite veneers on teeth to make them the correct length.

Orthodontics can be part of a more complex smile makeover or as easy as tucking a snaggle tooth back into position. Most tooth movement can be done with either invisalign or traditional braces. Compliance is a big factor with tooth movement. In order to move a tooth, you need pressure on it 22 hours per day. If you’re anything like me, you’ll get lazy, take your invisalign out and forget to put them back in. If we glue brackets to your teeth, you have no choice but for them to get straight. We refer more complex orthodontic cases to an orthodontist.

Can you straighten teeth without orthodontics?

Minor tooth movement can be performed with crowns or veneers, where the restoration is shaped in order to make the teeth look straight. Orthodontics before restorative procedures allows us to be more conservative, or grind away less (sometimes zero) tooth structure.

The clear, custom-made aligners are replaced every two weeks - without metal or wires so there's less time in the dentist's chair getting adjustments.
