The Lafayette Quaker Oat Festival
The Lafayette Quaker Oatmeal Festival is a motivational family event that focuses on a healthy lifestyle – a perfect opportunity to focus on Lafayette Dentistry! This unique small-town celebration hosts a yummy hot oatmeal breakfast (with the world’s largest toppings bar), a certified 5K walk/run, oatmeal baking contest, and health fair.
We arrived before sunrise to set up for the health fair and boy was it cold! Thankfully the rec center is right across the street from Complete Family and Aesthetic Dentistry. We realized that our snot was frozen to our upper lip and got a little nervous that there wouldn’t be a good turn out. To our relief, families were psyched to get out and enjoy the community, despite the cold weather.
All levels of participants, from casual strollers to elite runners participated in the Quaker 5K event. The race participants were rewarded with the fabulous oatmeal bar and warm coffee. Attendees also visited the health fair at the Bob Burger Recreation Center. Vendors at the health fair participated in various health screenings, information booths, interactive demonstrations and children’s activities.
I educated the public about TMJ disorders, occlusion, and other dental topics. The event was a huge success and we look forward to next year’s Lafayette Quaker Oatmeal Festival.
